In the classical 3-dimensional pattern making or Japanese Draping the pattern is molded on the tailors dress form with calico/muslin. This method is a sensual and intuitive alternative to the two-dimensional intersections of cut pattern making on the table or computer. It offers a direct recognition of the individual development steps of the pattern.

In this JAPANESE DRAPING full program workshop you will learn to create complex patterns on the dress form.

Workshop leader: Christine Mayer

Berlin-based fashion designer Christine Mayer has built a fashion career on re-purposing clothing and breathing new life into old garments.   She is a pioneer of three-dimensional free draping with fabric, an art form she has adapted and developed from her studies in classical Japanese drapery.
When it comes to clothing design, Christine’s style is recognisable for its collage aesthetics; where pattern and fabric constantly interrupt each other’s spaces. “Material that has been marked by life” is one of Christine’s biggest inspiration.
The aim in Christine’s teachings is to learn and experience a new way of dealing with fabrics. It’s about a conscious opening that moves away from the two-dimensional space, towards a unique three-dimensionality.

Christine is also trained in Salubrious Work and meditation. She teaches students and teachers at international fashion colleges and leads creative retreats and workshops in United States, France, UK, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.

In der klassischen dreidimensionalen Schnittentwicklung wird der Schnitt aus Nessel/Molure an der Büste abgeformt. Diese Methode ist eine sinnliche Alternative zur zweidimensionalen Schnittgestaltung an Tisch oder Computer und bietet ein direktes Erkennen der einzelnen Entwicklungsschritte des Schnittes.

In diesem JAPANESE DRAPING Workshop lernen Sie komplexe Schnittformen an der Büste zu drapieren und zu entwickeln.

Der Kurs richtet sich an Menschen, die gerne neue Wege in der Schnittentwicklung gehen möchten, aus dem Modebereich kommen oder privat gerne kreativ arbeiten.

Ziel ist es, einen neuen Umgang mit Stoff zu lernen und zu erleben. Es geht um eine kreative Öffnung, die sich weg vom Zweidimensionalen und hin zu einer besonderen Dreidimensionalität bewegt. Konventionelle Herangehensweisen werden aufgebrochen, um neue kreative Wege im Design- und Modebereich zu schaffen.

Die Designerin Christine Mayer lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Nachdem sie sich mit ihrem Label MAYER. Peace Collection weltweit einen Namen für Kollektionen gemacht hat, welche die Grenze zwischen Kunst und Mode sprengen, wendet sie sich seit einigen Jahren dem Weitergeben ihres Wissens und Könnens an Menschen hin, die neue Wege im Modedesign gehen und ihrer Kreativität eine neue Ausrichtung geben möchten. Dabei geht es ihr immer um ein ganzheitliches Erleben und Erforschen, sowie um das Öffnen von inneren Kanälen, um die Kreativität wieder frei fließen lassen zu können. 

Christine Mayer ist außerdem ausgebildet in Salubrious Work und Meditation. Sie unterrichtet Lehrkräfte und Studenten an internationalen Modeschulen und leitet Kreativ-Kurse in USA, Frankreich, UK, Schweiz, Österreich und Deutschland.
